Waterford Dream Home
By kve | May 8, 2008
Waterford is a section of Big Canoe that has a whole lot to offer. Nestled right past the North Gate, this large section is home to rolling hills, 2 ponds, and a hiking trail. The homes in Waterford are upscale and range from the 500’s up to $1,000,000. Here you will find a more traditional style home with an executive flair. Some of the homes have surprising views including the one I’m about to review! I love the Waterford section because as a Mom it has the North Gate conveniences and this full time neighborhood has gentle and usable lots.
The featured Waterford home of tonight’s blog is 4808 Hyacinth Hill. This spectacular 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home features incredible upgrades of which many home buyers should be aware. A custom lead glass door welcomes guests in style! Each roomy bedroom has its own private bath. The enormous gourmet kitchen features custom cabinets, an island, breakfast room, office nook, and pantry. Even as an agent, I must admit that the kitchen truly is the heart of the home. My personal office is carefully manicured in the kitchen too! For large parties, the dining room with coffered ceilings can easily seat 12 guests. The living room opens to the sun room for maximum flow and light, not to mention the lovely mountain view. The very romantic master features a private stone fireplace, and a spa-like master bath with a custom lead glass window. Hardwood Brazilian cherry floors enhance a warm feel throughout the main level. The upper level has 3 large guest suites with their own private baths. An open common area is perfect for an office or small reading loft. The unfinished terrace is ready for a full bath, and a wide imagination. Three front rooms are framed and there is also room for a media-room, and storage. Outdoor living is important in Big Canoe and this house has park-like grounds from the perfectly lush landscaping at the front entrance to the large and dreamy decks in back. Many Big Canoers will admit to spending as much time as they can living outdoors. This lot is very private and wildlife can often be seen meandering through the forest.
There are a few behind the scenes features that put it one up versus similarly priced homes in Big Canoe. This home features a back-up Generac generator. I can personally speak of the convenience of a generator. Losing power when you are running a business out of your home is no fun! Even worse than that is losing air conditioning in July!! My generator is worth its weight in diamonds! Having a back-up power source , you’ll be the envy of the neighborhood! One other feature of this home is that it has 2 water sources. The Main source comes from Pickens County which is unusual for Big Canoe because our water source comes from Lake Petit. In this case, Lake Petit is a secondary source of water for this home.
The Owners of this lovely house, Mr. and Mrs. Owens are well known citizens of Big Canoe. Casey, the “fearless” Westie watchdog will shower you with affection if you enter the enormous laundry room. All he really wants is a scratch on the head. Hopefully by now you all know how Big Canoe feels about dogs! The pictures of this home are great but the home itself is truly inviting.
Call for an appointment to see one of Waterford’s most extravagant homes!

Hi Jim,
The view is one of the best I’ve seen is Waterford. Not bad for a 3 minute drive to the gate!
