No Gas? Come on up to Big Canoe!

The whole state of Georgia from the airport north seems to be having trouble getting gas. It’s all over the news and I really noticed it today when everyone from Big Canoe was shopping at the IGA rather than going into the town of Jasper for their groceries. They all said the same thing, they were saving gas. I bought a BIG pork but for Dan to smoke on the Big Green Egg. We are having some god friends over for dinner tomorrow and I am simply not worried about the gas situation! Seriously if I need something I can shimmy down the Jeep Trail on foot to get to the IGA Express and load up on frozen goods until things pick up here.

God forbid if the gas runs out in the car and there’s nowhere to get any I can dust off my teaching certificate and home-school the kids for a few days. We’ll focus on a history lesson about how things got pretty bad in the 70’s and we all had to wait in line for gas too. I won’t mention the part about how the Dairy Queen was right near the gas station and how my mom would get 2 soft serve cones for us while we waited in line to fill up our brown Pontiac La Mans. I remember that we went by some form of Odd/Even thing like license number or address, days of the week?? My mom never really seemed that stresed out over it but then again it was the 70’s and as long as Englebert Humberdink was still singing “After the Lovin” we’d be in good shape.

We made it though the 70’s crisis and we’ll make it through this one! My biggest concern is that I have enough gas for any Big Canoe Real Estate customers that call for a tour. Sadly it was a little slow for this weekend, BUT I’m ready if anyone has a full tank and wants to come up tomorrow. The worse case scenario is that you run out of gas up here and get stranded in Big Canoe! How terrible would that be? Hmm?  Stuck in a Mountain Resort Community with 2-24 hour guarded gates, roaming security, golf, tennis, fitness center, hiking trails, and guaranteed peace and quiet! I say PLAY HOOKIE!

Think about it! We have some vacation rentals available! AND I have some gas if you want to look around at some property. it sure beats waiting in line!

Running out of gas and getting stuck in Big Canoe… hmm, sounds like the best thing that could possibly come out of this gas crisis for me! I think I’ll add that to my “to do” list when Darren and I visit for Oktoberfest!

What a coincidence, Karin. I just blogged about the gas issue too. No need to go a schlepp up and down the jeep trail (unless you just need an excuse to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather) FedEx can deliver most of what you need to your door…even frozen foods if you’d like!

Working as much as we do, this allows us to spend our spare time doing more of the fun stuff here in Big Canoe that we’d rather be doing? Are you joining us for the ‘Trash n Bash’ on Saturday?

    Hi Valerieanne,
We are pretty “gassy” now, so no need to panic! But it was making me want to hook Pepper, Dom, and POkkey up to a cart to take my customers on the “tour”! Pepper would be like the Turbo Boost getting up the hills!!! See you very, very soon at Big Canoe Oktoberfest!

    Tom,
The FedEx, UPS, and DSL trucks are always welcome in my driveway! I order a lot of things online and almost all of my business supplies. Very handy! A lot of places do free delivery too! Saves gas, time, and aggrivation!
