Big Canoe Weekender Or Full Time Home???

By Karin Elliott | January 15, 2008

8144 Black GumWhat defines a Big Canoe weekender from a full-timer in the Big Canoe Community? If you’re heading to Big Canoe you are either downsizing, upsizing, simplifying, or just getting the Heck out of Dodge! Some people tell me they want a full time home so I ask them how they define a full-timer, and the answers I get run the gamut of all the homes listed in Big Canoe real estate history! Many agents say a garage is a must for full timers. Truth be known most of my full time shoppers prefer a garage but can live without one. Afterall you already kissed your lawnmower goodbye when you chose to move up here and most homes without garages have options where a garage or carport can be added. Some others say a weekender should be small and easy to take care of. The last weekender I sold was about 5k square feet with a 2 car detatched garage with office above, miles of kitchen space, 3 fireplaces and a divine circular drive. I’d go on but you get the point.

I have a home listed right now that is truly a part or full timer. It is 8144 Black Gum Drive and it should be shown to everyone because even the most particular shopper can’t help but to say ‘I could live here!”. There’s room to add a detatched 2-car garage, screened porch and the terrace is stubbed for an additional full bathroom. At $314,900, it is the perfect mid-range home for anyone. Two guestrooms and one full bath upstairs eliminates a cluttered main level. The master is large, open and bright with access to the back deck and lovely view. The terrace is broken into 3 sections plus plenty of storage and exterior entrance perfect for furniture. The front porch is welcoming and the gorgeous fireplace in the greatroom calls anyone to curl up and read a book while toasting their tootsies.

This home is only a few minutes to the center of Big Canoe and a few more minutes to the gate. Commuters can’t complain and weekenders still have their privacy! Call for a preview, it’s worth it, and I challenge you NOT to say “I could live here”.  8144 Black Gum Drive is the perfect full-time Big Canoe residence as well as a perfect Big Canoe weekender!
