Big Canoe Soccer Begins at Wildcat Recreation Area
By Karin Elliott | April 8, 2008

David Beckem would have been proud today to see the healthy group of kids eagerly lined up to play soccer in Big Canoe. The Big Canoe HOA sponsors several children’s co-ed soccer teams twice per year for some neighborly competition at the Wildcat soccer field. Several residents and some non-residents volunteer their time and efforts coaching the kids while their parents happily gather on the sidelines.
The groups start as young as 4 and go up to the teens. Most of the teams are divided up by experience and age. The sign-up was packed and I was personally surprised at the turnout. Practice is once per week and games are on Saturdays.
Many young families are starting to move in and Big Canoe has made room for growth by providing ample recreational space. The Wildcat Recreation Area has something for everyone including baseball, basketball, socer, bocce ball, playgtound, 2 pools, walking trails AND a beautiful pavillion with a huge fireplace, picnic tables, and grills. The perfect outdoor day can be easily had at Wildcat!
