Atlanta Views from Big Canoe!

By Karin Elliott | April 14, 2008

9133 Shetland Trace - Atlanta Skyline

Believe it or not there are homes in Big Canoe that have wonderful views of the Atlanta skyline! You don’t need to drive to the top of Sanderlin Mountain to see Atlanta although the views are magnificent!! Many commuters don’t want to drive 20 minutes to the gate but still want to enjoy all that the North Georgia Mountains have to offer! Being only one hour north of Atlanta makes Big Canoe very special because it feels like another world up here. One of my newest listings 9133 Shetland Trace is only minutes from the Main Gate yet, this private home backs up to acres of green space and the distant Atlanta skyline lights up the night reminding you that you are far enough away from the city chaos to appreciate the beauty of it all!

A 2 acre lot with a long driveway introduces you to one of Big Canoe’s finest homes. 9133 Shetland Trace has more than just a beautiful view for the non-retired commuters that want to be just a little farther than elbow’s length from the office. This welcoming home has room for plenty of entertaining for both inside occasions and outside extravaganzas. The well equipped and spacious kitchen has a generous pantry for all occasions. The bright breakfast room is the perfect place for reading the paper and drinking a good cup of coffee before hitting the road. The lucky few that are able to work from home will feel fortunate if they are able to claim the airy upstairs loft as their office. The main level master if bright and restful with a big bath and roomy closets. The 2 upstairs guestrooms have one common bath and are perfect for a visiting company. The whole family and then some can enjoy comfortable seating in the large dining room right off the kitchen. The terrace level has lots of entertaining space and potential for media room. The bedroom and full bath is a very private retreat. Enjoy a fine cigar on the poured concrete lower deck. Also a perfect place for a very private hot tub.

This is one example of what an extra 20 minutes of commuting will bring to your heart and soul. Although Big Canoe is a “million miles away” from the city and suburban lifestyle, it’s still a short trip into Atlanta and it’s surrounding suburbs. Most residents don’t seem to mind the longer trips to the stores or work when they know that once they pull back into the gates and drive through the emerald forest (aka Wilderness Parkway) they are back home and far, far away from the beaten path.
