The Jeep Trail
By djelliott999 | December 8, 2007
The community of Big Canoe features numerous amenities. Many are exactly waht you would expect from a gated community - 27 holes of golf, tennis, fitness center, restaurants, clubhouse, etc., but there are a many hidden treasures scattered throughout the natural landscape of Big Canoe!
One of these treasures is the Jeep Trail, so named because I suppose you could (and most likely would) require a Jeep to navigate the trail. This trail runs adjacent to a gorgeous mountain stream that winds its way through the forest. Along the way are many points of interest including old prospecting mounds, a defunct still, and a 100+ year old cabin.
This trail is perfect for a family outing as there are no steep inclines, and one of the favorite spots to end your hike is at the old cabin where there are numerous picnic tables and east access to the shallow waters of the stream - perfect for the kids. Nearby are a couple of small waterfalls. For a short family outing, this really exemplifies the jewels that can found throughout Big Canoe.

[...] Trout Lily Trail is a hidden paradise in Big Canoe because of its close proximity to the Jeep Trail, and its lack of traffic. Wildlife abounds with frequent deer, turkeys, and even foxes are common visitors in this area. Most of the homes on Trout Lily are weekenders too, but the full timers are quiet, friendly, and unobtrusive. This is a street where walkers and neighbors stop to shoot the breeze if you are outside simply enjoy the neighborhood. It’s a bit of a drive from the North gate but still only about 6 minutes from the center of Big Canoe. The ambitious can literally walk to the pool via the Jeep Trail in about 20 minutes. Come see it for yourself if you don’t believe it! To see more of this cozy north Georgia cabin, visit us at IBA Mountain Homes or contact Karin Elliott at (770) 655-4303.
