Easter Egg Hunt in Big Canoe

By Karin Elliott | March 26, 2008

Big Canoe Easter Egg Hunt 2008

I realize it’s a little late to be writing about Easter but it was truly an event that needs to be mentioned. Last Easter we has a bout of nasty weather so this year everyone made a gallant effort to gather at Playfield Park in Big Canoe for a good old fashioned Easter Egg Hunt! The little folks 4 and under had a big corral to gather up their eggs while the bigger kids had a more challenging hunt up on the playground. My children, very much like the rest took it like an Olympic event, training for weeks to scoop up the most eggs. We are now hiding the eggs once again simply to prevent a sugar overdose!  There was also a very fun petting zoo complete with a camel, llama, goats, bunnies, cow and calf.

The kids got to feed the animals and everyone shared the responsibility without any anguish. The Easter Bunny arrived after the hunt and greeted all the happy children. Many of the families brought blankets and soaked up the sun while the kids frolicked in the sun. One local celebrity and friend, Victoria Stillwell of the Animal Planet series “It’s Me or the Dog” was there with her family and friends to celebrate Easter too. Luckily all the dogs at the park were well behaved!!  We were all very thankful that the weather was so pleasant and we were able to burn off some Easter dinner calories. Our next big holiday event will be the 4th of July celebration at the dam with a glorious show of fireworks from Lake Petit! Stay Tuned!!!
