Dekalb Symphony Orchestra to Play in Big Canoe

( *Update - Due to weather, the concert has been postponed until Sunday, June 8 at 7PM. )
There is no greater sign that summer has arrived than hearing the beautiful combination of the Dekalb Symphony playing to a backdrop of nature’s own outdoor symphony of crickets and tree frogs. This resounding combination will be presented tomorrow night, June 1st on the golf course where anyone in listening distance can sit back with a beverage of choice and appreciate this magical event.
For years the Dekalb Symphony has come to Big Canoe to delight both residents and guests, but it certainly isn’t the only event of the year for big Canoe. Throughout the year there are sponsored events for the young and the young at heart to appreciate. After the June Symphony comes the awe inspiring 4th of July fireworks over the Lake Petit dam. Fall has Oktoberfest which is all about the beer, Oompah band, and famous craft shopping. Fall also has the extremely popular Trunk Or Treat which is Big Canoe’s way of celebrating Halloween. We all have a big Tailgate party in Wildcat complete with costumes, candy, Trail of Terror, and hay ride. Everyone has great time and the best part is that it’s super-safe for the kiddies. Santa comes in December for breakfast and the children all donate a toy for “Toys for Tots”. They hear stories, make crafts, tell the Big Guy what they want for Christmas and eat cookies. No worries about waiting in lines when friends are with you. April brings the Easter Bunny and May is the ever-popular Big Canoe Tour of Homes which is an event that brings large donations to local charities.
You do not need to be a Big Canoe resident to participate in these events but you may wish to after attending. Tomorrow night I plan to go the the Dekalb Symphony event and I’ll tell you all about it, plus pictures.
