Lost Dog in Big Canoe. Please Help Georgia Find Her Way Home!

By djelliott999 | April 25, 2008

Help Find Georgia! Lost in Big Canoe.
Georgia is a Lost Dog in Big Canoe

Over the past couple days, I’ve been noticing signs for a lost dog named Georgia.  My 5 year old son who is just starting to read has seen the sign and keeps asking me  “Did they find Georgia yet?”  Today, Karin (my wife) met Ellen Rambo who is the owner of Georgia.  Ellen was over at the Wildcat Recreation Area in Big Canoe handing out flyers and asking folks to keep an eye out for her lost pup.  It dawned on me that real estate agents cover a lot of ground here every day in Big Canoe, and they might happen across Georgia.  Here are some basic facts about Georgia:

Ever since watching Old Yeller as a kid, I have been a big softy for dogs, and I am very sympathetic to Ellen’s current situation.  Ellen has also posted this on Craigs List and has received emails of the worst sort attempting to extort money in exchange for Georgia.  While I realize there are always going to be bad apples in the bunch, I know there are an awful lot of dog lovers in Big Canoe (and Craigs List too) that want to help Georgia find her way home. If anyone happens to run across Georgia, please give Ellen Rambo a call at (770) 367-5983.

We have officially reached 166 hours missing. Being one who studied criminal justice, 48 hours is the best window for finding a lost child and from then on the outcome becomes worse. It has been 96 hours since her last sighting on the bocce field. Please, please keep looking. I am also interested in knowing if anyone has information on dog rings in the area or places she might be being sold. I hate to be depressing, but it is time to start searching the negative venues. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thank you all for your help.

    Hi Ellen,
My friend lost her American Bulldog over in Cove Lake. He took off for over 3 weeks. She came over to my house last night and announced that Buddy came back!! There’s no telling where he went but he knew how to get back. Keep positive and we’re all pulling for Georgia.

well- I have an update- I recieved a call yesterday night that Georgia had been in someones back yard- she was seen behind the 9th house on the left going up ridgeview- possibly Wednesday or Thursday… My search has really expanded now! I do have a request-question- because ridge view backs up to property along cove rd- I have been walking through the woods trying to find her there… I have permission from the man who owns all of that land to search to my hearts content- well my question is : does anyone own at horses that I may take back in the woods to search? I would be willing to pay for a morning ride through the woods. I am an experienced rider, but don’t know atone who has a horse in the area… I would appreciate any thoughts on this- the trails back there are to difficult to take a car. Thanks for any ideas or suggestions.
