Great Big Happy News in Big Canoe!

Many of you have been following the ongoing search for Big Canoe’s Most Wanted Dog, Sweet Georgia Brown. I first posted about Georgia on April 25, 2008 - you can see the original post about the missing Big Canoe dog here. After an 18 day search, Georgia is Home again! Georgia lost over 15 pounds while she was gone and was seriously dehydrated upon her return, but she is home. Read on for the whole story and sleep soundly knowing that there are a whole lot of good people up here, and that Georgia is safe and sound.
Ellen has been diligently searching for Georgia for 17 days and never gave up faith. She posted flyers from Big Canoe to Tate and had signs all over her car as well. Many volunteers in the community kept their eyes out and followed up with Ellen daily. She told me today she had about 14 regular updates to give daily to people she didn’t even know before her beloved pup was lost. There were numerous sightings throughout Big Canoe however, that speedy dog wouldn’t slow down! The saddle club over at Bent Tree Stables were ready to go on an all out search to help too.
Doubt crept through her mind from time to time but Ellen pursued calmly. She missed a few days to take her dad to the hospital but the search crew was still looking out for Georgia. One person even gave her their pointer! She graciously accepted the new friend but never blinked an eye that Georgia was still out there somewhere.
Ellen told me she had a minor meltdown this morning when her dad said it ws time to start moving forward. After some door slamming she said “GEORGIA is coming home TODAY!” and that was that. Around noon today Ellen got a call saying that Georgia was at the end of the Wildcat section. She went over to look, and call but decided to head home. When she got home she was greeted by a skinny, weary, and HAPPY Georgia! She called me from the Foothills Veterinary Clinic to tell me they were waiting to see the vet. I heard Georgia crying in the background. The vets ran some fluids into her along with some shots, de-wormer, and instructions to REST!
Ellen brought Georgia to the Wildcat Recreation Area today to say thank you to everyone that helped. She had 2 dog friends with her. One of them was the new pointer. There were ear to ear smiles all around when the Big Canoe Community heard the good news! So many times life leaves you with your arms up in the air and no answers. Today we had a classic case of happy closure, and maybe even a warm fuzzy! Best to you and your big heart, Ellen!

I’m very happy that Ellen got Georgia Back. I know that everyone at the Big Canoe Animal Rescue was concerned.

we are actually at kauffman tire getting the “grunge-buggy dog mobile” all fixed up after its adventures through big canoe. Georgia, Missy, and Lucy are excited about getting their ride all fixed up! I want to thank everyone for their help in finding Georgia! We are all forever in debt to your kindness and compassion.
