Above are some samples of home names hanging on the address posts in Big Canoe. Views are one of the main attractions of buying a Big Canoe home in addition to all the amenities and the peaceful setting. However, Big Canoe is not small at all and only a few of the homes for sale in Big Canoe can boast breathtaking views from the back porch! I never cease to gasp when I see a view home under construction. It truly amazes me how a builder can envision the home and nestle it on a lot that only the hawks would love! Then after the final touches are put on, the home looks as natural and inviting as a strong solid oak tree with a view to die for! I guess that’s why these homes are so loved and coveted. Remarkably there are not a lot of Big Canoe view homes for sale when considering all the homes currently on the market in the Big Canoe Community. These view homes come with a higher price tag than a non-view homes (due to foundation costs and premium lot prices), and sometimes come with a few challenges, but the rewards far excede any obstacles.
One of my favorite view home names was “No Guts, No Glory” (The new owners have since changed it), and in this home’s case the driveway was challenging, but the home was triumphant! A view home with a level driveway is possible but many of them will fetch very high prices. Cox Mountain in Big Canoe is a perfect example of a premium neighborhood because the drive up to the top is so relaxing you can just about hear the “muzak” playing in the background. The views are tremendous! Falcon Heights is a far more exhilarating road full of switchbacks and and steep drop-offs. Deer Run Ridge is another road that rewards you with great views on the way to Sanderlin but posts a challenge to the white knuckle crowd! The view homes are all so different but share one common theme of achieving “Pie in the Sky”, because after all you only live once! Many buyers are concerned about steep or challenging driveways at first and make elaborate plans to flatten them, but after a month of driving up and down they forget all about how nervous they used to be! After living here over 4 years and being a real estate agent I can just about drive blindfolded now in Big Canoe, but suddenly I’m the Little Old Lady from Pasedena on I-75!!
