Mountainous Terrain in Big Canoe Creates a Challenge For Cell Phone Users…

A question that comes up with almost every real estate transaction we have in Big Canoe is “what cell service works best up here?”. First off, let me point out that our while our company, IBA Realty Group, lives, operates, and conducts 99.9% of its business within the gates of Big Canoe, we are not the Developer. If we were, we’d probably attempt to work something out with the cell companies to provide consistent quality service from multiple cellular providers. That being said, the question of “do you get good cell reception up there?” is important to prospective buyers.
The community of Big Canoe and the real estate therein covers roughly 8000 acres of undulating woodlands, lakes, and mountain peaks with elevations over 3000 feet. Granted, this makes it tough to provide consistent cell service in every area. Prior to AT&T taking over Cingular, we enjoyed fantastic cell service in Big Canoe, so it’s not just the moutains here in North Georgia disrupting the signal. Since AT&T, it has ranged from awful to marginal in my opinion. I still have too many dropped calls.
