Snow in Big Canoe

Happy New Year!
I am putting all the stats together for you but ended up quite distracted by a sudden surge of snow! Big Canoe is now covered in a blanket of white and is absolutely fabulous! We have about 2 inches but I can not prove it to you because the kids keep wiping the railings clean to make snowballs, go figure! Yesterday I heard the forecast and tried hard not to get my hopes up too much.
When I picked the kids up from the bus stop we darted over to IGA for the typical milk, eggs, ingredients for chili, etc. At this point the car was overtaken by the spirit of joy and sharply turned right into the Ace Hardware parking lot. They had about 3 sleds left. All 3 were priced higher than Y2K kits in December 1999! Being the optomistic sap that I am I found myself loading up a toboggan into the car before I knew what hit me. Two beaming kids later I spent almost 24 hours answering the same question with “I DON’T KNOW when the snow will be here”!
Then, out of the sky came the most rewarding snow I ever did see. The kids, whom I have tried so hard to raise without instant gratification didn’t understand that sleds needed snow in order to move. Sitting on the sled in my driveway and waiting not very patiently were 2 pink cheeked kids in mismatched gloves. About 2 hours into the snow I finally let them loose to sled all they wanted as long as they gave me a chance every once in a while too.
I’m writing this at 8PM while the snow is still trickling down. The streets have not been plowed yet and I couldn’t care less! School has been cancelled in Pickens County. We are heading back out for some good time sledding on Trout Lily Trail followed up with a fire and some hot chocolate.
Enjoy some pics from this afternoon and PLEASE send me some pics if you have any I’d love to post them. My email address is karin@ibamountainhomes.com
I will add all the snow pictures I get with credit to the artists that took them. Thank You!
Sincerely,
Karin Elliott, IBA Mountain Homes

Thanks Mark! It was such a nice surprise to have all this snow!
Thank you Mimi for the great shots!!! I saw your home this morning and wished I was that close to the falls! I’m only a 6 minute walk so I guess I can’t really complain!

I could just hear you saying this as I read it and it made me smile (huge)! I LOVE the photo of Dom. Of course, I can see our house in one of the photos and it made me want to be there. Big Canoe is so amazing. Thanks for sharing the moment.
