Living Large for Less: A Big Canoe Foreclosure Fit for a King

Everybody loves a bargain! I admit that I like to write about the lowest priced foreclosures in Big Canoe but I never thought to write about the bigger fabulous homes that occasionally pop up on the bank owned list. This not so little lake house in Big Canoe is amazing and makes me think about living the high life in the good old days back at the turn of the millennium.

The Home:

This approximately 5,000 square foot home, built in 1999 has 2 of the most amazing stone fireplaces I have ever seen in Big Canoe. It features 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. The kitchen is so divine that I think Rachael Ray and Emeril could live happily ever after. There is a butler’s pantry and a second pantry that is practically large enough for a bedroom. High end appliances, though slightly dated can inspire even the peanut butter and jelly chef (like myself) to bring on the bechemel! All 4 bedrooms are over sized and could house king sized beds with ease. A true one level with a terrace makes this home easy to have guests that need privacy. The outdoor space takes full advantage of the private lot overlooking Lake Disharoon. Walk to the nature trails through the back yard or relax on any of the multiple large decks over looking the lake.

So, what’s wrong with it? Here is my bullet list of what needs to be done. Please note that I am not an inspector so there may be a few things missing.  I try to say it like I see it:

  • There is wall paper thoughout the house that screams 90′s!
  • The deck on the screen porch needs to be replaced. Other decks are weathered and need staining.
  • Exterior paint and trim will not be cheap BUT it’s a must.
  • The kitchen bones rock, but a cosmetic makeover is needed to bring it to 2010.
  • The driveway has a steep pitch that can not really be changed.
  • New carpet or wood floors in master and living room.
  • Vista pruning will help open the view up more in the summer.

The Price: $429,900

Pictures are worth a thousand words. Although it’s a very cold (28 degrees) and overcast day I went out to take these pics. Call me with any questions about the house or for a showing.
