Dog Safety in Big Canoe

It’s a known fact that dogs like to run like crazy! If I were a dog, Big Canoe would be heaven with all the woodland creatures existing just to entertain me! Many of our best behaved canine companions can’t help but to burst out in glee just to answer that call of the wild. With over 8,000 acres in our development, Big Canoe residents are well aware of this wanderlust that overtakes these pups. Where the city folks would worry more about their dogs being hit by cars, the Big Canoers have concerns that visiting or even resident pups may get lost after gallantly chasing a deer over the river and through the woods. Big Canoe has come up with some plans for the near future to help recover and prevent any lost animals.
All animals will require a registration with Big Canoe and should wear collars with updated tags in case of an emergency. There is also a leash law in Big Canoe for all dogs that are not under voice command. Many lost dogs end up in the Big Canoe Animal Rescue. Registered dogs would have an immediate “get out of jail free” pass. Another good idea is to have your faithful friend “chipped” with a microchip that is easily inserted right under the skin on the back of the neck. Your dog will be easily identified and ready to come back home after an adventurous day chasing squirrels and digging up moles.
There is no doubt that Big Canoe residents love their dogs and enjoy their environment. We want to keep our pups happy, healthy, and trouble-free. Leash walking is in the rules but every once in a while you need to take off and sing “Born-Free”!! Kind doners have provided a wonderful fenced paddock area near McDaniel Meadows where dogs can “get up and go” without being “dog-gone”!! That way everyone is happy in the end.
Warm-Fuzzy-Regards,
Karin
