Blue Skies in Big Canoe

Spring Dandelion

Tonight I’m sitting on the screen porch and listening to the frogs and toads in the water feature announce that Spring is finally here. They are looking to claim their own piece of Big Canoe real estate in the rocks by the pond. This has been a pretty mild winter in regards to snow and ice but the temperatures kept us inside for a good long time only venturing out in the middle of the day when it was warm enough to frolic. I admit I will miss my coat and sweaters due to the holiday over indulgence reflecting on my midriff but I know I will run it off on the Jeep trail if I can pry myself away from the computer. However I am very proud to announce that my flip flops were happily reunited on my feet today. Here’s a brief synopsis of my wonderful day living in the Big Canoe Community.

My dogs were unaware of the time change so they were even happier to go for a walk an hour earlier. The kids woke up shortly after so even though I “slept in” I had nothing to show for it. Even the clock looked tired!  All that ended when I walked out side and greeted an overcast morning with bare feet and a smile because it was so warm.  The dogs were excited to smell everything since even the ground is coming back to life. I knew it was going to be a great day despite the clouds.

After some coffee and catching up on the news, all four of us decided to heat out to Big Canoe Playfield Park with our fake Border Collie, Dom. The clouds had blown away and there were blue skies in Big Canoe. I did a few laps while the kids rode bikes and Dan worked over at the picnic table. We walked the Wildflower Bunch garden trail and I was inspired to start planting. Then all at once we were hungry and headed to Publix for an all out Thai dinner. We all wrapped the won tons and prepared the satay sauces while Dan fired up the Green Egg and cooked the pork satay strips. Sitting out here on the porch we watched the sunset over Toland Mountain as Big Canoe seemed to tip it’s hat to the arrival of Spring!

Wow…I got such a serene feeling from reading this, Karin and I needed that as I am preparing my taxes. I can’t wait to be back up there and it could be a while. I am looking at my Big Canoe calendar as I type this…so lovely!

Thank You Deborah! I always love hearing from you. Season changes always get my fingers typing. I also spotted and fixed a few typos. That’s what I get for working in the middle of the night! Enjoy!
