Autumn in the North Georgia Mountains

Whew! This month went by like lightening and I still managed to bring the camera. It all started with a brief trip to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm with some friends. We got there later in the afternoon and it was not crowded at all. The pumpkins are plump this year including a wide variety of white, green, pie, bumpy, and gigantic pumpkins.

I went to visit the new home of some former clients, now friends, the Halseys. You may remember the picture I posted of the bear over the summer. Talk about a welcome wagon!  However they have managed to unpack the millions of boxes they brought and the house looks amazing. We spent most of the night on their screen porch watching the sun set and not one single bear came to join us.

Last Saturday was Oktoberfest which is usually the highlight of October for me. I admit that I was less motivated due to the soggy weather. I did make an appearance towards the end but even the Om-pah Band seemed sad about the drizzle and there’s just no reason for men in lederhosen to play slow tempo polka music. I saved about 400 calories worth of Warsteiner, and browsed through the kiosks. The sun was shining in the colorful Creations Booth. Owner and local resident Lynne Searfoss’s handmade jewelry was as colorful as a rainbow. Other venues included yard art, alpaca sweaters, furniture, canoe lamps, and local artists.

Today I had clients up to choose their Big Canoe weekend home and we lucked out with some gorgeous weather. I’m happy to see the second home market on the upswing. With so many for sale it is not hard to find one that is right for you. I currently have the following weekenders for sale: 565 Lake Watch, 558 Lake Watch, 8046 Wild Cherry, 353 Laurel Ridge and there are many more on the market. All of these are very rent-able and would help to pay for themselves over time.

Enjoy the pictures from this month’s events and feel free to call or email me if you’d like to come up for a tour of the Big Canoe community. Stay Tuned for Trunk or Treat!

@Deborah, Thanks!! I lucked out by going to Burts in the afternoon on a week day. Felt like I had the whole place to myself…until I ran into friends, Cheri and Shelly. All the children had so much fun.

@Mark, The weather was a whole lot better at the pumpkin farm. Nice weather, no crowds….Such a gift!!!
