A Significant Year to Remember

Me on my Significant Birthday
This year has been one for the ages, but this December is one that I particularly would like to keep . I recently celebrated a somewhat significant birthday right here at home in Big Canoe with my family. I enjoyed a great dinner at Fuego and a fabulous tequila shot! I reflected on where I am versus where I was and as they say you can never look back! Here’s a brief relapse of where I am not versus where I started.
I was in Duluth, Georgia with a brand new family and not happy about raising children in Suburbia. We stumbled upon Big Canoe when my in-laws chose to build a home here. After a few visits we were convinced that Big Canoe was the community for us. Nearly 5 years later I have great kids that can identify birds, snakes, and wildlife that would never even be seen in Duluth. We have waterfalls in walking distance from your home and happy dogs that “own” our street.
I especially enjoy working at home with my husband and knowing that my children will always have family around for support. In my nearly 5 years I have found a huge support network of friends in AND outside of Big Canoe through Tate Elementary and other extra curricular activities. Knowing that Big Canoe was the right place to raise a family, we decided to take the plunge. I am very thankful that we sold when we did because our old neighborhood sales dropped like a lead balloon right after we sold.
I love the small town environment of the Big Canoe Community and the fact that we are tucked neatly in the middle of this 8,000 acre resort. As a child I wondered what my life would be like when I turned this significant age and I think the child in me is smiling right now! It reminds me of the small town where i grew up in north Jersey.
To all my readers and subscribers I wish you a happy and healthy 2010 and hope to see you as neighbors in the near future. Above is a very rare picture of me on my significant birthday! Although it may not be the most flattering picture of me it surely is the most charismatic! Happiness beams in character!

You look so content, Karin! Happy Birthday to you, once again
I can see how the serenity of Big Canoe is a contributing factor to that smile on your face. Anytime I drive through the gates, I get that content feeling of peace and well being – it truly is a little slice of Heaven on Earth.
A Happy and Healthy 2010 right back to you

Thanks Valerieanne, You do need to sneak up here one of these days with “Mr. Keneval” and warm your tootsies by the fire. Bring the pups too!
Cheers to 2010!!

Happy 30th Birthday, Karin. It is 30, right?
Cheers from a “bleader” (Blog Reader: from the book Julie & Julia. Your blog style reminds me of hers –minus the bad language, of course.)
