IBA Mountain Homes serves all of North Georgia, but we focus on the Big Canoe Community because that's where we live and work - we know it well! When we moved to Big Canoe from metro Atlanta, we worried that we would be isolated in the mountains away from the comforts and conveniences to which we were accustomed. The Big Canoe Community is a short 60 to 90 minute drive from Atlanta and both I-75 and Georgia 400 are easily accessible. Other suburban comforts are within a short drive as well. The Dawson Outlet stores, the Mall of Georgia, and other shopping are all within a 30 minute drive.
One of the greatest pleasures of living here in the North Georgia mountains is enjoying the outdoors. For us, that can mean anything from sitting on the back deck witnessing a meteor shower or lunar eclipse, or swimming at the Wildcat Recreation Area, or enjoying an outdoor performance by the Dekalb Symphony.
The Wildcat Recreation Area is located near the North Gate of Big Canoe, and is essentially a large park with many different types of family activities. The Wildcat pool is actually two pools - one for adults and one for kids. The children's pool is a water playground that your kids will absolutely love. There is a also a large pavilion area with BBQ pit, huge outdoor fireplace (perfect for those crisp autumn evenings), and plenty of picnic tables. The Wildcat Recreation area also has large soccer fields, a baseball diamond, and well used Bocce ball courts!
